A story to get us started. When I bought my original Playstation after months of saving up I bought it with Resident Evil and Tomb Raider. Since then I’ve grown up playing pretty much all of the Tomb Raid games and watching all of the movies. Although the games never really gripped the attention of my friends one thing remains the same since the release of the game I purchased all those years ago, the Lara Croft costume still kicks ass.
Many female characters have come along since then and our cosplay focus has shifted to favourites such as Black Widow, Bayonetta and Babydoll in Sucker Punch along with with old classics like Catwoman, Storm from X-Men and Harley Quinn. Despite an influx of new options the Lara Croft costume remains a best seller especially in October for Halloween. Putting your own basic version together isn’t too difficult either meaning it’s an accessible option for cosplay beginners. Making a screen accurate version isn’t quite so simple, which is why we thought you should all see what some major time invested in a character can achieve.
Here’s a collection of Lara Croft costume cosplay pictures from Illeyne. If you like her work we recommend checking out her online profile, which contains plenty more Lara shots and a few other cosplay costumes.
Tomb Raider Lara Croft Costume
Many of us will have seen a variety of Lara Croft cosplay attempts through the years at conventions but Illyne tops the lot. The quality of the costumes, a look that’s incredibly similar to the on screen hero and shots taken in scenic locations make her porfolio a must see.
Tomb Raider Reborn
This shoot looks like it must have been a ton of fun. The Lara Croft costume here features in Tomb Raider Reborn, which will be released later in the year. I instantly fell in love with the fire torch shot as I’m a sucker for good lighting.
If you like these shots definately check out this short video of Illyne in action as Lara:
Tomb Raider Underworld
OK, so this isn’t quite Honey Ryder coming of the water, but it’s still stunning all the same. Guns at the ready and poised for action!
Again the scenic backdrop in these shots really enhance them. This Lara Croft costume can also be seen in Tomb Raider Underworld.
