If my partner Kat isn’t looking through endless posts on Tumblr in her spare time, she’s inevitably drooling over the latest 1950’s dresses, gothic t-shirts or rockabilly outfits over at Kate’s clothing. To say that she’s a fan would be a huge understatement. After taking a quick look on the site, I quickly found out why.
Kate’s Clothing sell a diverse range of men’s and women’s apparel including gothic, retro, 1950’s and rockabilly outfits. Prices start from £14.99 for some sale items and UK sizes 8-22 are available for a few dresses, though most are available in UK sizes 8-16.
One thing that does greatly appeal about the site is the personal nature of it. The “about us” page, which I highly recommend you check out (a link can be found at the bottom of the homepage on their website), contains a little bit of information and history of the staff. You can immediately tell that the members involved in running the site know what they’re talking about, which is reassuring and fills me with confidence that I’m in good hands when I shop with them.
1950’s and Rockabilly Outfits
Kat and I had a look at the rockabilly outfits together and we’ve picked out a few of our favourites to showcase below. We loved the wide selection of the rockabilly outfits on the site but we managed to narrow our selections down to the following six dresses.
1. Hearts and Roses Purple Polka Dot Retro Dress
Polka dot dresses will always be popular and the colour of this outfit is immediately what caught my eye. The bold, vivid colours will almost certainly attract attention your way and the mesh attached to the internal circle skirt adds to the look.
Halterneck dresses flatter ladies with a bigger bust however the cut of the bust on this outfit will flatter you, whatever figure you have.
2. Hell Bunny Cordelia Retro Dress
A great outfit for the summer. The poppy print is fun and would be perfect for a day at the park, out in the sun.
Kat said she could easily see herself wearing it as a day dress or on a night out in town. It’s versatility might be appealing to some of you and you could wear it with or without a petticoat to offer a different look.
3. Hell Bunny Gothic Black Widow Dress
This gothic style dress is very different to what we sell and I’m featuring it for that reason. Most of our designs are quite simple and this immediately caught my eye as it’s something a little bit different. Covered in a black spider webs and black widow spider design, the dress would flair out perfectly when worn with a decent petticoat.
Obviously I’d highly recommend it around Halloween if you’re looking for an alternative to a costume.
4. Hell Bunny Rockabilly Tattoo Flocked Dress
I LOVE this outfit. The black tattoo print contrasts perfectly with the white satin style fabric and it looks super cute! Style your hair with some victory rolls or with some retro curls and pop on a pair of your favourite high heels to form a very eye catching outfit.
Personally I’d opt to wear this dress with an additional petticoat to give the skirt some volume and maybe go for a simple thin belt instead of the supplied ribbon belt depending on the look you’re going for.
5. Hell Bunny Red Satin Dress with Black Tattoo Print
This satin dress caught my eye as it’s different to the standard cotton/polyester dresses that are usually sold on similar websites. The beautiful, shimmering satin material is covered in black tattoo design print and looks incredible with the addition of a petticoat as shown in the picture.
The bows on the bust and waist add some nice detailing and the simple black shoulder straps mean you can wear your favourite necklace for all to see.
6. H&R Black and White Polka Dot Dress
Versatile, pretty and an absolute bargain for less than £25. Wear this pencil dress to work, on a night out or to a family gathering. The product description states that the dress has a small slit up the back of the skirt, which means you shouldn’t struggle to walk in it.
You could match this outfit with flats or heels. Either way, you’d still look fabulous.
All of these rockabilly outfits can be purchased from http://www.katesclothing.co.uk along with a host of other excellent clothing.
Special Mention: T-Shirts
I know it’s not quite on topic but I have to mention the t-shirts that Kate’s clothing sell. They stock a range from Restyle, a Polish company who offer some very eye catching prints.
The girl that Restyle use to promote their clothing is a stunning pinup model and instantly pulled our attention towards the t shirts. Kate’s clothing stock many of their designs and I’ve no doubt you’ll love them as much as we do.
We also stock a small range of wiggle, tea and rockabilly dresses on our website. Prices start at £29.99 and most dresses are available in UK sizes 8-20.
This is NOT a paid post. I contacted Kate’s Clothing to ask if I could feature their rockabilly outfits on the blog as we love their products. We do not accept paid posts on this blog and all opinions are my own, though Kat does chip in with a few comments from time to time (more so on this post as she’s a fan of their site and has been a paying customer in the past).
My opinions are unbiased and genuine. These are, after all, a selection of my favourites, so I wouldn’t expect to read any criticisms. I can’t speak about the quality or the accuracy of the sizing as I don’t have any of the outfits featured here to comment on that.
If you have purchased from Kate’s Clothing before and want to let us all know what you think, please feel free to do so in the comments below.
